We all have days when there’s some work to be done but you just don’t want to sit at home, cooped up, and working/ just surfing (the net) for that matter. As of late, it has become my mission, to spend more time working in some random restaurant or cafe while people watching. I’m sure there are a few of us that do this!
Being Durban based has it’s perks. One of them is having numerous restaurants in the vicinity that offer free WiFi to their patrons.
Mugg and Bean
Mugg and Bean has various locations around Durban (and over 200 in Africa!), with my favourites being at Gateway and Pavillion, as well as La Lucia Mall. Just as good as their bottomless coffee is their bottomless WiFi – easy to connect to, with a stable on-going connection. Their menu offers Modern All American food with fresh and healthy ingredients.
Col’Cacchio has a mix of everything that everyone will enjoy – Italian style. There’s a big variety for vegetarians, seafood lovers as well as meat lovers. Their pizzas are amazing and the restaurant is equipped with the AlwaysOn WiFi. It can be somewhat troublesome to connect to during peak times but a pleasure to use during down times.
So Vovo Telo also uses the AlwaysOn WiFi platform and unfortunately, it does not hold the connection, even when you are able to connect. However, the food is a plus! Fresh, artisanal products that are of superior quality.
The WiFi here is amazing and you can stay logged on for a couple of hours if working. Situated on Old Main Road in Hillcrest, Stretta offers everything from breakfasts, salads, pizza, toasted wraps, pasta, burgers and grills. Definitely worth the drive out from Durban.
Chateau Gateaux originally operated from their factory selling mouth watering desserts, gateaux and pastries. However, the heavens have blessed us with Chateau Gateaux Pâtisseries in Durban North, Pavilion, Gateway, Morningside and Ballito – and they all come with free WiFi to accompany the decadence!
